Cadhay house and garden
open to the public
Cadhay house and garden, located a short distance from Ottery St
Mary in East Devon, is open every Friday afternoon from May through
to September. In addition, during the late Spring and the Summer
Bank Holidays it is open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday afternoons.
Guided tours of the house recount its history dating back to the early 15th
century. Visitors will see the Long Gallery, the Roof Chamber with its Elizabethan
timbered roof, and the Court of the Sovereigns, described by Simon
Jenkins as one of the “treasures
of Devon”.
Visitors are also invited to explore the garden and allotments. In fact more
and more people are coming to just visit the gardens which are an oasis of
calm and tranquility and change dramatically as the season progresses.
The Tea Room, offering delicious homemade cakes, light refreshments
and Devon cream teas, is open at the same time as the house and garden.
Opening times are between 2pm and 5.30pm (last house tour starting
at 4.15pm) every Friday from May to September. We are also open for
Late Spring and August Bank Holidays Saturday, Sunday & Monday.
Cadhay is a member of the Historic
Houses Association.
